On 29th May, 2025, Liu Po Shan Memorial College celebrated its Graduation Ceremony in the school hall, honouring the achievements of the 2024-2025 graduating class. Distinguished guests, the Principal, faculty members, proud parents and fellow students gathered to witness our beloved Secondary Six students mark the culmination of their secondary education at LPSMC.

The ceremony commenced with an opening address by our School Supervisor, Ir. Dr. Liu Tak Shing, who introduced our esteemed Guest of Honor, Mr. Lam Wai Kiu, former Government Chief Information Officer of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

During his distinguished tenure, Mr. Lam spearheaded transformative initiatives in information technology, developing innovative application platforms and implementing critical pandemic response measures that enhanced public services across Hong Kong. His visionary leadership delivered cost-effective technological solutions that improved both efficiency and quality of life for citizens. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, Mr. Lam was awarded the prestigious Silver Bauhinia Star in 2023.

Being a passionate advocate for Hong Kong's development as an international innovation hub, Mr. Lam has been instrumental in promoting the "IT Innovation Lab in Schools" programme, inspiring the next generation of tech leaders through hands-on learning experiences.

In his keynote address, Mr. Lam imparted three fundamental values to guide our graduates. Firstly, he urged them to "Embrace Change, Strive for Progress”, which means to challenge complacency, continuously evolve and harness emerging technologies like AI for societal benefits. Secondly, he emphasized the need to “Pursue Excellence, Not Perfection” as this prioritizes impactful progress over unattainable perfection, thus propelling innovation forward for the greater good. Lastly, he reminded them to "Cherish Teamwork, Unite for Common Goals” to cultivate mutual respect, collaborate effectively and share collective achievements.

Drawing from timeless wisdom, Mr. Lam connected Confucian virtues – benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and integrity, with Aristotelian principles of moral virtue, justice, courage and temperance. His powerful message encouraged graduates to "anchor technological advancement in humanistic values and social responsibility."

Principal Cheung then addressed the assembly, extending heartfelt gratitude to the Liu family and all honoured guests. His speech explored technology's evolving role in society, citing Mr. Lam's work as exemplary of AI's transformative potential. He concluded with warm congratulations and sincere wishes for our Secondary Six graduates.

Mr. Woo Tsun Nok, the Class Master of Class 6D of 2024-25, and graduate representative Vivian Ng Yan Yung (6D) subsequently presented the school's annual review, showcasing remarkable accomplishments across academic, athletic and artistic domains. Highlights included outstanding DSE results, teacher development programmes and diverse extracurricular achievements in sports, music and the arts.

The ceremony's emotional crescendo came with two graduating students' thank-you addresses. Igie Ho Chi Yau (6C) expressed profound gratitude to teachers, friends and parents for their steadfast support, while congratulating fellow graduates; Xue Ka Lok (6C) reminisced about memorable Secondary Six lunchtime performances, paying touching tribute to teachers' mentorship, classmates' friendship and parents' unconditional love and guidance.

A spectacular cultural programmed followed, featuring a vibrant band performance by graduate musicians showcasing impressive instrumental and vocal talents as well as a magnificent, stirring musical piece performed by our school’s Chinese Orchestra Team.

The Graduation Ceremony concluded as a resounding success, a testament to the dedication of our faculty and students who meticulously planned every detail while ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for all attendees. As our graduates embark on their next chapters, the LPSMC community extends its deepest wishes for their future triumphs and meaningful contributions to society.
